This magnificent pavan and galliard pair is found in British Library MS Egerton 3665, a score carefully written by Phillips´ friend and fellow-Catholic Francis Tregian. A keyboard version with elaborately varied repeats has survived in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book.
The original note values have been retained. Editorial accidentals, mostly derived from the keyboard setting, appear printed small above the stave, applying to the one note only.
